Cooking Appliance Rentals

The Kitchen Library Allows Members to Take Out Culinary Equipment

The Kitchen Library allows Canadians to rent kitchen appliances on a short-term basis. The non-profit lending library works similarly to a regular library, except instead of sharing books, you can borrow cooking equipment.

The Kitchen Library is working out of the Toronto Tool Library for home chefs to utilize as a resource. Unlike the public library, there is a $50 fee (approximately the cost of a mid-range appliance) to become a member. This annual fee grants you access to items like pasta makers, chocolate fountains and standing mixers. Each item can be lent out for up to 5 days and must be washed clean before returning. The same space is being used to offer cooking classes and workshops for members who can get comfortable with the equipment before using.
