Harvesting Human Heat

Jernhusen AB Heats a Building Using Body Energy from Central Station

Harvesting human energy isn't a new concept, but Jernhusen AB breaks the mold by harnessing body heat to warm their own building. This human energy is collected in mass amounts thanks to Stockholm's Central Station, which is conveniently across the street from their office.

Proposed a couple of years ago, Jernhusen AB was finally able to make it come to fruition. Currently, their energy bill has decreased by 25 percent. This has been achieved by converting human heat into hot water, which is then pumped into Jernhusen AB's heating system.
Trend Themes
1. Human-heat Energy - Exploring further ways to harvest human body heat for energy generation to fuel buildings.
2. Smart Buildings - Developing Smart buildings that can harvest human body heat to power themselves for optimal energy consumption.
3. Urban Energy Harvesting - Researching urban areas, especially those near power stations, to maximize human energy as an alternative energy source.
Industry Implications
1. Renewable Energy - Renewable energy companies can leverage human body-heat harvesting technology as an alternative energy source with minimum carbon footprint.
2. Building & Construction - Building companies can introduce Jernhusen AB developed technology, to develop structures that self-sustain their energy needs by harnessing human body-heat energy.
3. Transportation - Transportation industry can employ similar technology to contribute to a brighter and greener future by harvesting heat energy generated by people movement in the metros and conduits.
