Abstract Ash Wood Art

Jaws by Vivian Chiu is Both Refined and Rugged

Jaws by Vivian Chiu is another stunning art piece that adds an abstract presence to the artist's existing body of work. Unlike her Mohawk Headdress, Psych Cabinet and Inception Chair, this impressive sculpture serves no other purpose than to look good.

Made out of individual tapered pieces of Red Oak ash wood, Jaws by Vivian Chiu was long-grain glued, then grinded and finally shaped. This process resulted in a textured surface on one side and a smooth one on the other. The overall aesthetic is organic, even though this sculpture is not necessarily inspired by nature, especially since the grain is lined up, which creates a seamless grain on the smooth surface.

Jaws by Vivian Chiu is both refined and rugged. It is a beautiful balance between man and nature.
