Icon Iris Apfel Lives in a Colorfully Cluttered and Quirky Abode

The home of style icon and celebrated eccentric Iris Apfel is nothing short of extraordinary. What some would call clutter is actually a decorative motif that is interesting, fun and one-of-a-kind in the case of Apfel, who never does anything the conventional way.

Showing off the New York City home to Architectural Digest, Apfel explains her design concept: "I dont do minimal." This is entirely clear based on not only the motif of the home, but also Apfel's personal style and swag which is unlike most women of her age and stature.

The home is a trippy mix between 17th and 18th Century European flavor, and modern New York chic. Despite all the clashing elements and over-the-top furnishings, Apfel's home does not feel like clutter -- at least not the disorganized kind. Somehow, all of the pieces seem to find their place in this extraordinary home.
