Anna Keville Joyce is a well-known food artist that utilizes different meal items to recreate popular images, and her latest collection of installations use cultural foods to create the iOS emoticons. The images a collaborative effort between Joyce and photographer Agustin Nieto that capture the popular visual language in an edible format. Each of the illustrations are created using foods popular in three countries including Japan, Italy and Mexico.
Each of Joyce's edible emojis are created using ingredients popular in a specific country's cultural cuisine. For example, the 'Italy: Cuore Mio' illustration recreates the heart-eyed smilie using noodles, pasta sauce and spicy peppercorns.
