Imagine by Pedro Reyes Sends a Musical Message About Warfare

Imagine by Pedro Reyes is a noteworthy project that features a slew of musical instruments that once destroyed life rather than enriched it. Each one is made out of repurposed warfare weapons. The Mexican artist, who previously converted 1,527 firearms into shovels to 1,527 trees, used 7,000 firearms this time to create 50 separate musical instruments.

Commissioned by Alumnos 47, Imagine by Pedro Reyes was created in collaboration with a group of six musicians. Shaped into working musical instruments in just two weeks, they were used to perform a rendition of Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Bullet in the Head.'

Imagine by Pedro Reyes was recently exhibited at the Istanbul Design Biennial earlier this year.
