Educational Dessert Concepts

The Icecream Parlour by Ploenpit Nittaramorn is Thoughtful

The Icecream Parlour by Ploenpit Nittaramorn, an industrial design student at the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, examines the art behind creating seemingly simple desserts.

The designer studies how machines have altered the way humans interact and connect with their food. The conceptual kit comes with basic tools that require users to work for their dessert. Beginning with a pre-frozen marble slab, a mixture of cream, milk and sugar is poured onto the icy surface and folded using wooden spades. The constant movement over the cold plate turns the liquid into its characteristic creamy texture. The kit also includes other hand-operated tools such as a pestle and mortar.

Ready-to-eat meals have caused consumers to become less aware and attached to their food choices. The Icecream Parlour by Ploenpit Nittaramorn seeks to reconcile people with their meals through educational experiences.
