These Wasanbon Skeleton Sugar Cubes are Ideal for Hot Drinks

While Japan doesn't have as strong of a Halloween presence as North America, the country does have subtle ways of adding spooky touches to its food as these skull sugar cubes designed for hot drinks demonstrate. These mini skeletons are made from wasanbon sugar and they are perfect for adding a bit of sweetness to your coffee or tea during the fall season.

Designer Nobumasa Takahashi put together these eloquent sugar cubes designed to look like grinning skulls. The edibles are made by using the fine-grain sugar sourced from Shikoku and pressing it into the wooden skull molds. The treats come in either white or black with the black sugar cubes getting its color from flavorless bamboo charcoal. These would be ideal to add to coffee, tea or any other drink for an added kick of sweetness.
