Hybrid Hot Air Ballons

This Transformed Balloon Design is Partially Solar-Powered

The traditional hot air balloon is getting a well-deserved makeover with new solar-powered capabilities. The modern balloon concept will act as a hybrid aircraft and will be powered by heating up air both from the sun as well as from a traditional propane burner.

The hot air balloon undergoes a rather complicated process prior to its descent into the air. Fabric needs to be laid out in the sun and will be used to create its envelope. This process is followed up by a trip to a special sewing machine, used to weave the fabric together.

This hybrid solar and propane hot air balloon will be the very first of its kind in the world. Currently, the balloon is in development and will make its debut during the UK's International Balloon Fiesta in Bristol.
