Norwegian Prefabricated Hiking Cabins

Spinn Arkitekter's 'Varden' Will Definitely Promote Trekking

A durable, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing hiking cabin has just opened on the Storfjellet mountain in Norway. The compact prefabricated structure is erected for the Norwegian Trekking Association and its purpose is to offer a playful nudge and inspire people to go on hiking adventures.

The wooden hiking cabin is created in collaboration between Spinn Arkitekter and Form Engineers who worked extensively to reach a design that "echoes [a] rugged arctic setting." As a result, the shelter effortlessly blends in its surroundings. Thanks to recent developments in the industry, the studios were able to efficiently assemble the hiking cabin on site. The companies dealt with 77 cross-laminated timber panels that "slot together easily like a 3D puzzle."
