Het Arresthuis is an Prison Turned Upscale Inn

The Het Arresthuis hotel is based in the Netherlands. Although now the scene of luxury traveler accommodations, the space was originally a prison built during the 19th century. The designers have retained many of its original elements, allowing guests to stay in rooms that are reminiscent of cells.

Standing behind these jail like doors are sprawling fully equipped rooms. These updates have been paired with the usual upscale hotel essentials, seen in the saunas and fitness center. Specialty suites can also be stayed in by occupants, all of which have been accorded with quirky themed names. Nights slept in The Jailer, The Lawyer, The Judge and The Director will certainly make for a memorable trip.
