The California Fuel Cell Partnership's Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Trucks

A California-based hydrogen fuel-cell trade group has announced its goal to put 70,000 heavy-duty fuel cell trucks and 200 hydrogen fuelling stations on Californian roads by 2035.

The California Fuel Cell Partnership sees this as a step towards achieving California's 100% zero-emission truck goal by 2045. Heavy-duty trucks make up only 2% of traffic in California however account for 9% of greenhouse gas emissions. For this reason, developing an initiative that specifically targets heavy-duty trucks is paramount in reducing the state's CO2 emissions.

One of the primary reasons hydrogen cell vehicles have not taken off is limited fueling infrastructure. Building 200 hydrogen fueling stations will help mitigate this problem and promote the use of fuel cell vehicles.
