Egg-Shaped Playhouse

Gregory Erekohv Turns a Mundane Shape into a Unique Kid's Play Structure

Gregory Erekhov has designed an outdoor children's playhouse that mimics the shape of an egg. Designed for the artist's daughter, Orekohv was unimpressed by the traditional and rather dull playhouse designs and took it upon himself to create an exciting and vibrant place to play.

Erekohv chose to design the structure in the shape of the egg as it symbolizes vibrancy and life. The ovoid structure features curved walls and ceilings and is made with stacked plywood lamellas. The steps are made from a mirrored material, and the walls are only 30 mm thick. A small window allows for natural light and air exchange to flow within the space while not compromising the shape and aesthetic of the ovoid structure. The structure is untraditional, alluring, and playful.
