Great Bowls of Fire

Artist John T. Unger says that in a way the 'bubble bursting' on the dot-com craze may have been one of the best things that happened to him. By "putting the kibosh on financing my art habit through freelance graphic design," the American designer realized, "the art would have to support itself."

The resulting recycled steel fire pits and grills are both magical and practical. With names like "Wave O' Fire", "Blaze O’ Glory", "Goblet O' Fire", "Dancing Devil" and "Beach Burner" not only is his creativity brought out in the design of the fire pits, but also in the naming of the works.

Unger’s designs would be fabulous for the beach or cottage, adding a rustic, lively feel to the other wise mundane grill or rock-ringed hole in the sand.
