British artist Layne Rowe has been working with hot glass for over 19 years. Intrigued by the ability for industrial glass methods to create strong art statements and play with natural color and form, Rowe’s glass revolver, hand grenades and military helicopters take an obvious symbol of war and social commentary.
The beautifully crafted, fragile "weapons" depict the destructible nature of violence. The addition of ornamental daisies is an iconic symbol of peace during times of war. Rowe's work will be traveling along with several other glass artists through the U.K. in the early part of 2011.
