Gerry Gray Place Has Expanded to Offer New Services for Senior Consumers

As a result of growing popularity, Powell River will expand the Gerry Gray Place for Seniors for individuals 65 and older in the qathet area of British Columbia. The area on Alberni Street has served as a center of activity and social meetings for the last year. The Gerry Gray Place now provides chair yoga, dancing lessons, and a drumming session thanks to the expansion, which helps senior consumers stay fit and healthy. A men's workout group with refreshments and coffee afterward is also being considered.

"During COVID-19, we realized just how many seniors in qathet were isolated and didn’t have anyone," said Stacy Gibson, manager of senior services. "My vision was always that [seniors] would make connections that go beyond this place, and I’m super excited that people are making those connections, to go to a movie on the weekend or to go for a walk with people they have met here."
