A group of creative sanitation workers created a few huge garbage bin pinhole cameras out of 1,100 litre bins to photograph their community. The team drilled one small hole into the front of each bin and introduced light from the opening to a piece of multigrade photographic paper. The result is a series of large-scale black and white photographs of the city of Hamburg, Germany.
The creative minds behind this unique pinhole camera project are Christoph Blaschke, Mirko Derpmann, Hans-Peter Strahl, Roland Wilhelm, Max Soller, Michael Pfolmann and Werner Bünning. These Trashcam Project members installed their garbage bin pinhole cameras on different places through the city to absorb their vision and perspective. The imprinting process with these giant cameras took anywhere between six minutes to an hour for each single picture.
