Double-Clawed Smartphone Speakers

This Fun iPhone Speaker Was Inspired By a Double-Clawed Crab

'Zimma' is Taiwanese for a type of crab, which is what this fun iPhone speaker was inspired by. The Zimma by Gecko Design is a double-clawed speaker that has a wooden dock for iPhones. Protruding from each side are horn-like speakers that resemble phonographs from back in the day. The Zimma could very much be like a modern, digital version of a phonograph.

The horn-shaped speakers can amplify your iPhone's volume. Using technology that is similar to that of megaphones, each horn delivers music that is four times louder than your mobile device. It also has a deeper sound effect, as it travels through the smooth-shaped tunnel. This shellfish-inspired design received a 2013 Golden Pin Design Award for its innovative design.
