Wall of Fans Installations

Flow 5.0 by Daan Roosegaarde Keeps Things Incredibly Cool

When summer finally rolls around and the temperatures rise to an almost unbearable heat, people will wish the Flow 5.0 art installation was based in their city and not Bentonville, Arkansas. Unless, of course, a person is from Bentonville. It is a massive, freestanding wall of fans that produces a very fine breeze.

Created by Dutch artist and innovator Daan Roosegaarde, the Flow 5.0 installation was recently acquired by 21c, a chain of hybrid contemporary art museums and boutique hotels. Although it may seem like a waste of good energy, Flow 5.0 boasts built-in sensors that trigger the fans when someone is nearby. The rest of the time they turn on and off randomly to create a series of patterns and even spell out the word 'AIR' to the delight of passersby.
