Monochromatic Double Exposures

Florian Imgrund Melds the Natural and Human in Black and White

German photographer Florian Imgrund recently shot a series of double exposure photos in black and white. The monochromatic scheme lends an almost pencil-shaded texture to the work. Indeed, the double exposure blends human forms and natural landscapes so well that one would think Florian Imgrund must have edited the photographs post-shooting, but he did not. All of his work was done live with an analog camera. This feat is all the more impressive when one learns that the photographer only got his camera in 2010 and so has only two years of experience with analog methods.

Photoshop is a legitimate tool in the art of photography. However, there is something to be admired in Florian Imgrund's minimalist techniques. One of the essential strengths of photography is an ability to capture moments as they come.
