Presented on the plaza next to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, this floating pavilion by local studio Shen Ting Tseng Architects embraces the power of the region’s changing weather. Playful and whimsical, the all-white structure appears to be lifted off the ground. Its kite-inspired aesthetic takes advantage of the regular strong winds coming from the Keelung River. This feature allows for Shen Ting Tseng Architects to sort of establish a collaboration with nature itself.
The floating pavilion boasts "a kite-canopy and a curved island." The former materials were sourced from local manufacturer Huang Jingzhen Art Kites. The framework of the canopy allows for it to establish a dynamic relationship with everything below it "creating a dappled pattern of light and shadow."
