Fiona Winzar's Eyelid House is the Perfect Form of Public Privacy

I thoroughly enjoy both the design and concept behind the Eyelid House by Fiona Winzar Architects.

The house (Melbourne, Australia) was built for a family of five on a tight urban lot. The main challenge was to create a suitable living space without sacrificing an open atmosphere.

The struggle that came with the task gave birth to the eyelid concept. It’s an angular roof overhang that protects the privacy of the family inside but also allows for a naturally well-lit home.

On the eco/sustainability side of the coin, the house features a rain water collection system, solar hot water, and locally sourced materials.

Quite beautiful both inside and out.
