Emma Whiteside Goes Eco-Victorian With Upcycled Gown

This stunning Victorian Style 'Queen Adelaide' gown was masterfully and intricately designed by New Zealand Industrial Designer and entrepreneur Emma Whiteside. Whiteside spent over 200 hours sewing this astonishing piece of couture artwork together from discarded radiator parts.

The copper rosettes may have been inspired by her parents' automotive plant where Emma Whiteside was raised. Her environmentally conscious eco-Victorian design won the World of WearableArts' Shell Sustainability Prize which consisted of almost $4000.

Implications - The model who had to wear the 22-pound copper gown says that she was "quite sore" after wearing it for an hour straight. Although the model looked quite beautiful in the gown, it must have been quite hard to move in!
