This Student-Designed Car Captures & Stores Carbon Dioxide

A group of innovative and highly skilled students over at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have gone about building an electric car prototype that is designed to extract carbon dioxide from the air and store it, making it possible for the vehicle to capture more carbon dioxide than it produces.

The 'Zem' electric car prototype makes use of a grille-like frontal design that is the starting point for its air capture technology. This system is said to be able to remove up to two kilograms of carbon dioxide for every 20,600 km per year when moving at a speed of around 60 km/h.

While these sorts of figures might not make a dent in the context of a single vehicle, the fact of the matter is that being able to scale up the technology into vehicles around the world most certainly would. As a result, it is apparent that the 'Zem' electric car prototype is a highly laudable and important creation that could help spawn more eco-friendly transportation.
