The Eggpicnic Amalia Chair Transforms a Traditional Material

The Eggpicnic Amalia Chair is wicked. The project, put on by the Santiago-based design duo Christopher Macaluso and Camila De Gregorio of Eggpicnic, worked with local artisans Francisco Palma and Mario Rojas.

The modern design actually uses a traditional Chilean material called "mimbre." The hand weaving technique for mimbre originated in a town just outside of the Chile's capital called Chimbarongo. The company created the Amalia Chair using the amazing material and technique mimbre in order to celebrates culture of Chile along with its skilled craftsmen.

While, the design harkens to a more contemporary look. The curvaceous nature of the chair seems to comfortably cocoon, while providing a dynamic look to any room. The chair is available for purchase by contacting Eggpicnic costing approximately $700 US.
