The Eep Eep Eep EP is a concept album made entirely of alarm sounds. It was designed by Rajeev Basu as an experiment to see if it’s possible to turn one of society’s most despised sounds, the sounds of alarms, into music that people might actually enjoy.
Mixing a variety of alarm-like sounds such as police sirens, fire and car alarms, Rajeev Basu has come up with surprisingly good results. The contributing artists include some of the world’s top sound designers: Michael Manning, David Kamp, Dominic Matar and Malcolm Goldie.
The Eep Eep Eep EP is a unique musical art project with album art work that is just as important as the sounds. The project also features a contest where listeners are encouraged to mix their own album or track using the alarm sounds featured in the original concept album. The winner will have a personalized album cover designed by Basu with an opportunity to have their track featured in a sound-sculpture installation which Basu hopes to put on by 2012.
