Edible Bug Breeding Terrariums

The Lepsis Kitchen Terrarium Encourages Eating Insects for Protein

Cookware brand Kitchenaid recently collaborated with Mansour Ourasanah to create the bizarre kitchen terrarium called Lepsis to encourage people into eating insects.

A rather bizarre-sounding concept, the Lepsis is a counter top terrarium that fosters the rapid growth of bugs for protein consumption. While many North Americans might thinks eating insects is a strange meal component, many people around the world credit insects as their number one source of protein. Shaped like a small glass jar with a removable top, the Lepsis
features an intricate set of hexagonal green plates that provide food, heat and air for the insects to grow.

The Lepsis will allow consumers to grow, breed and eat insects directly from their own kitchens, rather than purchasing them from an outside source. The Lepsis also plans to reduce meat consumption and production in fast-growing urban cities.
