Dato is an audio electronics company based out of the Netherlands that first introduced its synthesizer for kids, the DUO, on Kickstarter. After gaining support through the funding platform, creators David Mentong and Toon Welling were able to take the two oscillator monophonic synthesizer and sequencer instrument to market.
The pair were inspired to create the DUO so that they could involve their kids in music production. With this in mind, the DUO has a toy box-like design that's full of colorful buttons and intuitive symbols that enable users to quickly get an understanding of the different features. Although the DUO has a simplified design for kids, it still features many of the capabilities that are found on a more traditional synthesizer.
With its dual-sided design, the DUO is made for collaborative projects, and can be used by anyone ages 3 and up.
