Dr. Mohamed Babu Invents Technicolor Insects

Resembling a Skittles commercial more than science experiment, this eerie characteristic of local ant life was captured by Indian doctor Mohamed Babu.

After his wife happened to notice the garden insects were curiously turning pale, Dr. Babu chose to investigate. It turns out that the ants had consumed a quantity of skimmed milk, accounting for their sudden discoloration. Wondering how far he could stretch this scientific principle, the good doctor prepared droplets of sugared water which contained edible coloring -- the ants, upon digesting the liquid, immediately displayed the technicolor contents of their abdomens.

It took skill, patience and a sheet of paraffin, but the 53-year-old South Indian finally captured a handful of fascinatingly bright and stimulating photographs. Take a look for yourself and admire the natural beauty of life and the world!
