DIY Radio Station Installations

Josh Short's Bomb Shelter Radio is on Exhibit at the Growlery

Multimedia artist Josh Short has made quite the name for himself with his highly immersive and interactive DIY radio stations. For all of his projects, the creative scavenges the materials and combines them to form a functional space for the community. Aside from the obvious spacial component of the artworks, the spaces also welcome temporal experiences. That is, Josh Short's DIY radio stations are not only meant for visual pleasure but are also intended to be "hubs for live music, interviews, guest DJs and experimental sound collages."

In 2018, the Growlery in San Francisco — a gallery that recently hosted Short for a two-month residency, is exhibiting the artist's 'Bomb Shelter Radio' installation. With a strong deconstructed aesthetic, Josh Short's DIY radio stations are interesting and engaging.
