Sustainable Sport Distribution Centers

The Nike Centre in Belgium Opts for an Ecological Design

The Nike sport distribution center located in Belgium features an ecological design to leave as little of an impact as possible on the surrounding environment. The building features both an environmentally friendly architectural and systematic process inside and outside of the space to provide functional service that is also sustainable.

The distribution centre is engineered to make use of natural resources and the surrounding environment to leverage its processes. For example, the space accepts most of its deliveries via boats rather than trucks and the space operates using energy sourced from five towering wind turbines. An additional thermal energy system pulls warm water from the nearby river to store it for heating in the winter. Initiatives are also put in place to ensure employees are sustainable as well, such as offering commuters free bikes.
