Cyber-Real Landscape Art

'Contructed' Transforms Landscapes into an Unsettling Digital Reality

Pawel Nolbert flips expectations with his 'Constructed' project that plays with boundaries to create an eerie digital reality.

The art series is a comment on how people are obsessed with creating their own representations of what they want -- creating a perfect image for the purposes of their contrived online presence. Speaking to this aspect, the artist explains that people make their own worlds in hope other people will believe it exists, even though they know that it is nothing more than a curated model they hand to them.

By taking his own vacation photos, Pawel Nolbert constructs his own digital reality by mixing the real with bright graphics. In this world, the sky is perfectly blue without a single cloud in sight, however it is also supremely lonely, with the graphics replacing any human presence.
