Interactive Edible Food Projects

'Digester L’augments' Features an Edible Record Player

Erika Marthins, an interactive design student at ECAL university is creating art that changes the way people perceive the edible in a project titled 'Digester l’augments.'

According to the design student, this project explores "the potential of integrating data and storytelling into food." Several unconventional designs comprise this project, including a large circular chocolate bar that can play sound when placed in a record player, a transparent lollipop that contains hidden messages, only visible in specific lights and a gelatin dessert that can move autonomously.

The project plays into all of the viewers' senses, altering the concept that food is just something we eat. This project puts less of an emphasis on eating and highlights the ways in which ingredients can be used to create unique offerings.
