Contests to Redesign Currencies

British Pound Gets A New Face

The British currency has been given a new face for its coins. The 26 year old graphic designer Matthew Dent drew his inspiration for the new coins from the Shield of the Royal Arms and he was the fortunate one to win the design competition out of 4,000 entries.

The design is quite special. While most countries have coins that represent their region of the world or their country's official symbol, the British took a risk and stepped out from the crowd.
