Architects Matthew Johnson and Jason Logan have entered their Desert Cloud design in Dubai’s Land Art Generator Initiative competition.
Desert Cloud is a series of net-like structures suspended between sculptural concrete piers. The net-like structures are fitted with alternating glass prisms and photovoltaic panels that refract light and gather solar energy. The result is a beautiful, energy-producing light-bending structure that shimmers above the desert floor like a mirage and offers shade to those who walk beneath it.
