Resin-Coated Eroded Furniture

Alcarol's Deconstructed Furniture is Edgy, Engaging and Unique

Italian studio Alcarol produces a small collection of deconstructed furniture that pays tribute to the wondrous processes of nature. The design firm collaborates with Vaselli — a Tuscan stone company that provided the Rapolano Travertine material. This is a type of sedimentary rock found near Siena.

For the deconstructed furniture collection, Alcarol and Vaselli covered the eroded material in cases of resin that did not interfere much with the natural state of the rock's surface. The other reason for the secondary material is more stylistic than functional — the companies use resin because it "resembles the water in which these rocks lay submerged through various eras."

The collaboration produces a table and stool that were presented during Milan Design Week. Without a doubt, the appearance of the deconstructed furniture stimulates experimental wonder and nature-inspired worship.
