Intuitive Dancer Training Devices

Ching-Hui Yang Builds a Brass Tool That Motivates Muscle Memory

Ching-Hui Yang — a graduate from Central Saing Martins in London, England, works alongside professional Valerie Ebuwa in the development of a dancer training device that is meant to "lock an individual's posture in place to help form a perfect pas de bouree ballet movement."

The dancer training device consists of knee braces and arm straps with finger inserts. These are designed to hold the individual's limbs in the correct stance. Ching-Hui Yang creates these tools through the use of brass and leather. The functional concept of the dancer training device builds on muscle memory as a learning tool. The project has the name of 'Standardisation' and with this product, the designer seeks to make the process of becoming a professional dancer more efficient and more intuitive.
