The Drones of New York Art Project Features Customized Drones

These customized drones have been created as part of an art project entitled 'Drones of New York.' Artist Rajeev Basu, an artist fascinated by these eerie airborne visions of the future, asked 13 international artists and designers to create designs for the drones using a custom built digital application. Basu then cleverly placed the designs into Google Street view to create this glimpse into a dystopian future where military built drones watch over cities like New York.

In their designs, the artists, who included Supermundane, eBoy and Adhemas Batista, took a wry glance at their ominous subjects. Some of the designer drones feature pop culture images of John Lennon and Coca-Cola. The designs are currently being shown at the Drones of New York website alongside an exhibition at the Musuem of Moving images in New York for the month of February.
