Automated Food Donation Platforms

This Software Connects Donors with Non-Profits That Need Food

Rajesh Karmani developed a new type of software that connects donors such as grocery stores, restaurants and school cafeterias with non-profits that need food. While a number of organizations have launched programs to help end urban hunger, figuring out the logistics of how to execute these programs is still a significant challenge. This software helps to automatically match donor organizations with recipients so that more food ends up in the hands of those who need it.

Karmani's non-profit is called Zero Percent and it services up to 80 non-profits a week using a special type of software that helps match donors with organizations in need. The software learns donor patterns over time to help non-profits figure out what may be available, when each place donates and what recipients may want. The system is completely free for non-profits to use and donors are only charged between $60 and $100 each month.

By managing the issue of inconsistency, the software helps move more food from donors to recipient organizations.
