Composting Candy Wrappers

Sweet Packaging Innovations That are Good for Mother Earth

Netherlands-based Amigos International hopes that customers will toss their Ananda candy wrappers into a home garden or compost pile now that their Fair Trade, organic chocolate from Ecuador is wrapped with NatureFlex NK material instead of the candy industry standard foil.

NatureFlex NK is a transparent high barrier heat-sealable film that keeps moisture out of candy that is wrapped in it while remaining fully compostable.

To ensure that the Ananda chocolates are earth-friendly, the chocolate's composting candy wrappers are just one part of the packaging. Shipping boxes are also earth-friendly: made under Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification standards and printed with vegetable-based ink.
