Coast Range Cabinet Channels the Natural Fragmentation of Rock Formations

It's certainly easier to manufacture furnishings that incorporate as few components as possible and require minimal cuts and connections. By this rationality, it's clear that the designer of the Coast Range Cabinet did not opt for the simplest process. The benefit of this decision is that the resultant piece of contemporary furniture is visually intriguing and unmistakably unique.

Vancouver-based Peter Pierobon was inspired by the jagged formations of rock along the western Canadian coastline. Accompanied by this was an interest in the way that natural and artificial entities in coexist in human-inhabited environments. It's no surprise then to see the wooden Coast Range Cabinet as a cohesive object that's composed many fragmented sections. Five separate units of drawers and cupboards have been irregularly clustered to form this eccentric item.
