DIY is usually cheaper than a professional, takes longer than a professional and doesn't always look as good. I wouldn't say this is the case for Charlie Kratzer's basement renovations.
Charlie Kratzer (a Lawyer) decided he was going to use his passion (art) to renovate the lame cream walls of his basement. In the end, after $10 worth of Sharpies, Kratzer had created a unique and innovative basement.
Kratzer covered his walls with characters and ornaments from different time periods. He decorated the room playfully incorporating the pictures on the wall with the items in the room.
This is just another fantastic idea that has come out of this economic crisis.
