The Nixie Clock uses six cold-cathode tubes, (aka. Nixie tubes) to display the time. Each tube has a cathode in the shape of the numbers one through to nine. To display a numeral, power is sent to an individual cathode, which then glows orange.
The base is made from a combination of cherry wood and shiny black anodized aluminum. Using a state of the art circuitry, time is kept by an ultra precise real time clock, accurate to within 0.0003s per minute.
