Bio-Waste Wall Tiles

CArrelé's Collection of Wall Tiles is Made From Bio-Waste

Elaine Yan Ling Ng is the creator of CArrelé's Wall Tiles. The eco-friendly collection is made of eggshells discarded from various bakeries. Decaying eggshells produce a foul odor and contribute to methane emissions as they rot. Elaine Yan Ling Ng's inspiration for the project came after learning about experiments that used eggshell agricultural waste in medical and dental therapies.

Currently, the bio-waste tiles are only available as wall fixtures. The CArrelé designer expects to expand the collection to include flooring. The material's malleable nature allows it to be molded into various shapes and sizes. Seeing as calcium carbonate, which is found in the eggshell bio-waste, is one of the most common resources provided by nature, making up five percent of Planet Earth as a whole, the project's goal is to turn this into a useful resource, and inspire others to follow suit.
