International Design & Architecture Winner

Cape Town House J

House J is now the proud winner of the WAN house of the Year award - designed by South African architect Kevin Fellingham - and recognises the stunning characterisitics of this Simonstown house in Cape Town. The house sits attractively beside the nature conservation area of the Table Mountain national park and is blessed with an amazing views which must of proactively influenced the jury. House J was chosen as the winner from an international shortlist of six and a competition which had entries from twenty different countries.

The award, in only its second year, took place in London at the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and commended the House J architecture and design on many levels. Kevin Fellingham used high quality finish throughout the house achieving a luxurious look with choice materials but without over-indulgent expense. The beauty of this design was displayed in its finer details - House J positively hugs and blends into the rugged landscape and manages to climb the moutain with sensitivity and environmental awareness.

The design must have entered the contest for the publicity as the winner only received a personalised plaque (which does not go with the rest of the interior design) and a small £1,000 cash prize (which most probably went on the plane tickets to collect the award).
