Super Solar Racecars

The Cambridge University Endeavor is a Mean Green Machine

The Cambridge University Endeavour is a nearly six-feet wide, 16 feet long, solar-powered car serving as an entrant in the 2011 World Solar Challenge.

The World Solar Challenge is an annual race that began in 1987 and takes place in Australia. Each entrant in the competition is required to enter a car that is powered by the sun, and then attempt to drive across Australia. The Cambridge University Endeavour is comprised of some of the salvaged pieces from Cambridge University's failed 2009 offering, Bethanny, which was felled by a bad battery.

The competition is a strenuous physical battle. The drivers of the Cambridge University Endeavour had to go through intensive training to combat Australia's oppressive heat and the vehicle's unconventional seating arrangements.

The 300KM race begins on October 16, 2011.
