Matteo Thun created the Briccole Venezia collection for RIVA 1920. Design company RIVA 1920 challenged 18 designers to create furniture using reclaimed wood, but not just any reclaimed wood. The wood came from Venice’s waterways, which are a great source of trouble for the romantic Italian city.
The competition was featured at IMM Cologne, and it’s a great sign that Italian designers are getting involved in the effort to reclaim Venice, pun intended. Briccole Venezia was a highlight at the show.
