Bound Basics by Toon Welling is Held Together Through Tensional Integrity

The Bound Basics collection is comprised of furniture pieces held together with nothing more than rope. Although it isn't the first of its kind, the collection is a good-looking alternative to similar attempts at using 'tensegrity,' a term coined by the designer meaning 'tensional integrity,' in place of traditional glues and nails.

Designed by Dutch product design graduate Toon Welling, the Bound Basics collection is clean and contemporary. The all-white pieces of furniture are given character through the use of the rope. Crossing each other to provide optimal tension in each piece, the rope adds a rustic aesthetic that is balanced by the overall minimalist design. Each piece is made out of eco-friendly materials like FSC-Certified composite wood laminate and hemp rope.
