Mobius' Biodegradable Plastic is Made from Paper Manufacturing Waste

Flowers and other plants from a nursery are often potted in black plastic planters, which are notoriously difficult to recycle, but Mobius is on a mission to change this with its innovative biodegradable flower pot. A new biodegradable plastic material is currently in development and explores the use of waste products from the paper manufacturing process. In past years, this paper waste product (lignin) is burned by paper mills to create energy but falling paper sales inspired the material's usefulness to be explored in other ways.

The biodegradable material has the potential to change the way people pot their plants, as the new design has the potential to break down in backyard soil by adding carbon.
