These McDonald's Uniforms Use 'CiClo' Fabric Technology

Fast food giant McDonald's is unveiling a new range of biodegradable fast food uniforms for its hardworking crew as part of a push to continue to embrace a more sustainable ethos.

The new fast food uniforms, which will be rolled out across all McDonald's locations in the U.S., make use of CiClo's pioneering technology that makes it possible for synthetic fabrics such as polyester to experience biodegrading at a similar pace to nature-sourced materials such as wool.

Although polyester has long been favored as the fabric of choice for fast food uniforms due to the fact that it is undeniably rugged and easy to wash and maintain, the fact of the matter is that polyester is known to result in the generation of loose plastic microfibers which ultimately pose a grave threat to marine and aquatic ecosystems.

The CiClo technology gets around this by using a proprietary ingredient which is activated upon exposure to moisture and germs, allowing it to be used in a durable manner without hurting the environment as much.
